A Mile to Change a Life- Easter Seals Walk with Me

The Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania Walk with Me 2011 event proves a success with more than 300 registered participates and volunteers.

Over the weekend, I participated in the Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania annual Walk with Me event. On this beautiful Saturday morning the Altitude team and their families, along with hundreds of other participants, came to walk and show support.

Gwen, Amanda and I

Whether you walked 1 or 2 miles, or volunteered, everyone involved spent the morning smiling in support of the more than 3,000 children and young adults that Easter Seals Eastern PA (ESEP) supports. ESEP helps individuals with developmental delays and physical disabilities maximize their potential by providing services to ensure that they, and their families, have equal opportunities to live, work and play in the community.

This is Altitude’s fifth year of involvement with ESEP and our very own president, Andrew Stanten, was recently named to the ESEP Board of Directors. The past three years, we have provided pro bono PR work for the walk. This year, Team Altitude raised almost $1000 for Easter Seals.

Ferrous breaking it down

As an intern at Altitude Marketing, the walk provided me with a great opportunity to learn how to work with the media and experience the attention to detail needed at a public event. We helped handle the media for the day which included a camera crew from WFMZ 69 News, the East Penn press, various photographers and more. Kathy Craine from WFMZ was there as the Master of Ceremonies for the day. There were also some entertaining visits from Ferrous the Iron Pig, Max M. Call from the Morning Call, Tip the crayon from Crayola, and a furry red monster! The rest of the day was spent playing games and doing crafts at the kid’s corner, petting adorable therapy dogs, dancing with the Reading Phillies dancers and after the walk enjoying delicious hot dogs.

As an intern at Altitude I feel grateful to experience these amazing learning opportunities – and even more grateful to be part of a business whose environment happily leaves time for charity and the community. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Easter Seals- the event was a success and will continue to grow in years to come.
