Gwen Hoover (ENG ’84),vice president of client relations and partner at Altitude Marketing, will lead a workshop during the University of Pennsylvania’s Alumni Weekend, which is slated for the weekend of May 16.
Hoover’s workshop, which she’ll co-present with fellow Penn alumna Karen Glass, president, Glassworks Entertainment + Marketing, is slated for Saturday, May 17, 2014 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Hoover and Glass, who were roommates during their time at Penn, will facilitate a one-hour workshop entitled “#What’s a Hashtag? Social Media in the 21st Century: Find out what everyone’s talking about!”
The workshop, being held in Houston Hall, will provide an entertaining, hands-on introduction to the world of social media, including its uses, tools and capabilities. Hoover and Glass will provide an overview of various platforms and their uses in business, service and personal pursuits, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Google Plus.
“I am so honored to have been asked to help lead this workshop,” said Hoover. “Though I’ve strayed from engineering a bit since I graduated from Penn in 1984, I credit my education with laying the foundation for my success in marketing. Now an obligatory tool for businesses of all shapes, sizes and focus, Karen’s and my goal for our workshop is to provide attendees the knowledge they need to effectively join the conversation on social media.”
