BFTP Cited as Best “Tech-Based Economic Development Initiative” By IEDC
Altitude Marketing congratulates the Ben Franklin Technology Partners on its selection as one of the best economic development initiatives in the world for 2008. The award was presented Tuesday, Oct. 21 by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) at IEDC’s annual global conference on Atlanta, Ga.
Competing in the category of “Technology-Based Economic Development by Organizations Serving Areas with Populations Exceeding 200,000,” BFTP was a clear standout. IEDC received almost 500 nominations for recognition in a broad range of economic development categories and BFTP was one of 25 organizations and individuals recognized for outstanding achievement.
BFTP is one of the most highly regarded and longest-running programs in the country dedicated to growing a state’s technology-based economy. Positioned strategically throughout Pennsylvania – with regional headquarters in the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and State College, BFTP serves as a catalyst for economic growth by providing access to capital, business expertise and a network of resources to foster innovation, growth and success. Similar to the award presented earlier this year to BFTP by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce Economic Development Agency, nominations for the IEDC award were solicited internationally and evaluated by a prestigious panel of experts. Altitude Marketing worked with BFTP to prepare and submit a nomination that effectively demonstrated its excellence in technology-led economic development and the important role of linking universities, industry and technology transfers.
