The Industrial Designers Society of America this week named the VorTech MP60w ES a finalist for the 2012 International Design Excellence Award – a major competition in the field. The EcoTech product was entered in the Leisure & Recreation category.

“We’re thrilled to see EcoTech receive the recognition they deserve,” said Jeremy Jones, Altitude Marketing’s Manager, Marketing Services. Altitude is EcoTech’s agency of record. “They’ve gone from startup to market leader extremely quickly, and that’s thanks in large part to their functional, reliable and beautiful VorTech pumps. There are plenty of imitators out there, but there’s only one EcoTech.”

The VorTech MP60 is a professional grade aquarium pump designed to improve the health and beauty of marine and reef environments. The MP60 creates exceptionally broad water flow – a key component in a healthy aquarium ecosystem – with the smallest possible in-tank footprint. Its unique magnetically coupled design serves a dual purpose: pushing an impressive 7,500 gallons of water per hour, while keeping potentially harmful wires out of the tank. The MP60’s unmatched flow and out-of-the-box multi-pump wireless communication makes it the best value on the market for larger tanks.

The IDEA program is the premier international competition honoring design excellence in products, ecodesign, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts. To be considered for the award, applicants submitted a detailed application package that addresses recognized elements of innovation, benefit to the consumer, visual appeal and appropriate aesthetics.
