We’re Hiring: Manager, Public Relations

Altitude Marketing is looking for a full time Manager, Public Relations to ensure we:

  • Maximize the return on our clients’ PR investment
  • Utilize our in-house talent and available technology platforms and tools
  • Stay ahead of the curve on industry trends and best practices

About the Role

This position exists to find and secure earned media placement, awards and speaking engagements for our B2B clients as well as creating robust communication strategies for Altitude and our clients.

Key Accountabilities and Essential Functions

Public Relations  Strategy (15%)

  • Attend new client onboardings
  • Create and deliver a PR strategy at onboarding of a new client
  • Develop clients’ communication plan and keep current
  • Research appropriate media outlets for specific clients
  • Attend quarterly reviews with clients, selling back the results of our PR efforts and coming up with new quarterly PR goals

Public Relations Implementation (50%)

  • Secure placements for all Altitude PR clients; “clip”, track  placements and following all distribution SOPs around process
  • Keep master media list current for all industry publications in industries we track 
  • Stay apprised of topical news in clients’ industries and generally in order to pitch relevant clients and to be a well informed individual
  • Initiate and manage media relationships
  • Write PR narratives, strategy docs that are specific to client, offering new ideas for improvement when possible
  • Participate in client meetings
  • Support clients’ internal communications efforts, when applicable
  • Write press releases, see through editing/approval and distribution process as described in SOP

Event Communications , Speaking and awards management (25%)

  • Research, manage events and awards opportunities for clients, proactively suggesting those that make sense to pursue
  • Completing speaking and awards submissions of those events and award agreed-upon to pursue
  • Work with digital marketing, content team, design team and client engagement managers on communications plans before, during and after the event, including, but not limited to pre-event email marketing efforts; press releases; social media posts; post-event campaigns and news wrap ups

Crisis Communications and Reputation Management (5%)

  • Support crisis communications; be available if crises arise 
  • Develop and implement reputation management programs for clients 

Be a High Performing Team Member (5%)

  • Attend & participate in team meetings and client meetings 
  • Follow all company SOPs
  • Timely and accurate time logging
  • Follow company conflict resolution norms 
  • Weekly check in with manager 
  • Assist with client meetings as requested
  • Understand that as a services company working in a deadline-driven industry, a degree of flexibility and a prompt response to crises are expected and necessary

Background includes

  • 7+ years of relevant marketing experience
  • 5+ years of public relations / media relations experience
  • Experience with Google suite (email etc)
  • Experience with PRNewswire, Business Wire and public relations database services
  • Proven track record of landing media placements
