Altitude Marketing, an integrated marketing agency serving technology-focused B2B companies, is pleased to announce that Adam Smartschan has been promoted to vice president, innovation & strategy, a new role at the firm.

Smartschan, who most recently served as director, editorial services, joined Team Altitude in 2011 as manager, editorial services.

“As a company, if you’re not innovating, you’re dying,” said Altitude President Andrew Stanten. “The needs and demands of our clients are wildly different than they were 10, five or even two years ago. They need direct integration between marketing technologies and their systems of record. They need marketing automation platforms deployed smartly and cost-efficiently. They need well defined, actionable strategic plans without all the jargon. They need the business intelligence, quantitative data and measurable results created by scientifically sound A/B testing programs. We have long relied on Adam to help us deliver these next-generation offerings, and he has more than risen to the challenge. I’m looking forward to what he and his team do next – and I know our clients are, too.”

Since joining Team Altitude in 2011, Smartschan has played a key role in client onboardings and branding efforts, leveraging his experience as a reporter and editor to identify and articulate key brand messages and market positioning statements. He leads Altitude’s system integration and technology consulting practices, and developed EverestTM, the company’s proprietary marketing automation solution offering integrated lead nurturing and drip marketing workflows without the bloat of traditional platforms.

In his new role, Smartschan will be responsible for conceiving, creating and implementing a pipeline of new products, programs and services that bring value to Altitude’s global client base. Through these efforts, Smartschan will ensure that Altitude maintains its status as one of the most innovative B2B technology-oriented marketing agencies in the U.S. and will oversee Altitude’s “Innovation Lab” and its personnel.

Prior to joining Altitude, Smartschan served as sports editor of the Metro U.S. chain of daily newspapers in Boston and Philadelphia. He also served as a copy editor for the Cape Cod Times in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Smartschan holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Northeastern University in Boston.
