Gwen Shields

Chief Operating Officer

Exceptional problem solving skills and technical knowledge allow Gwen to understand and guide our core base of technology clients.

Gwen is the chief operating officer at Altitude. She oversees client-facing systems and processes to improve service and retention, ensuring production operations run smoothly and effectively, and fostering a company culture that empowers the Altitude team members to better serve client needs. Through her practical-yet-compassionate nature, Gwen has been instrumental in developing and nurturing client relationships, streamlining internal processes, defining our product offering and ensuring that Altitude maintains a forward-thinking mentality.

Throughout her career, Gwen has worked on behalf of high-tech startup companies, software, health and fitness, bio-pharma and economic development organizations. For nine years prior to joining Altitude, she ran Kestrel Communications, a national PR and marketing firm specializing in technology companies. Four of Gwen’s recent portfolio clients have risen to the top by being acquired by big-name corporations like IBM, EMC, SunGard and GE.

Gwen is active in the local community, serving on the Ski Patrol at Bear Creek Ski Resort as well as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year campaign and Emmaus Main Street Partners. Gwen earned her BS in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and worked in information systems and tech sales before becoming attracted to the marketing side of the equation. She also served as the Director of Marketing at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome.

I come from an engineering background but I took to marketing like a fish to water. It dovetails perfectly with my natural ability to explain technologies in terms everyone can understand.
